Cask Strength on Islay
June 7, 2010 in Bagging Scotland News, Interviews, Whisky Bagging by Bagging Scotland
Bagging Scotland caught up with Joel and Neil from CaskStrength.net at Bruichladdich Day on Islay.
Two English blokes, music Industry background? We were prepared for the worst! Turns out these two dapper chappers were splendid specimens with a fine line in self-deprecating chat and an enviable knowledge of everything Malt-related. We urge you to read their blog as it’s not just full of tasteful tasting notes, it’s full of humour and is very much up Bagging Scotland’s street.
We also applaud their fashion sense and Neil in particular has a moustachioed style which harks back to the 1940′s. Ahh, the 1940′s…rationing. powdered eggs and halcyon days, when a bottle of fine malt cost a week’s wages. Maybe it would have been better if Hitler had come up trumps?
Of course we jest, and in spite of our ribbing and his insistence that many of the locals had imposed VAT (Value Added Tw*t) on their eccentric English pub behaviour and were milking them for every Guinea, we assured him that half a crown just didn’t stretch as far as it used to, particularly in Malt Whisky Heaven. Did we mention that we like these two gentlemen? Well we did and hope to meet up with them, soon. Perfect gentlemen and rather splendid advocates for our National drink. Slainthe, me old muckers!
